The Climb You Never See

Illustration of a Latina businesswoman climbing stairs with a heavy backpack labeled with challenges like gender bias and unequal pay, highlighting the burden women in tech face compared to a male colleague walking ahead unburdened.

She walks a path that’s hard and steep,
While others climb with strides so deep.
She carries bias, pay that’s low,
And questions why it’s still so slow.

She works with care, she leads with grace,
But finds few mentors in the space.
She hears the whispers, feels the doubt,
Yet shows the world what she’s about.

She faces glass that will not break,
Still builds a future for our sake.
She speaks with truth, she does not hide
A quiet storm, a rising tide.

So let’s remove the weight she bears,
And meet her with the strength she shares.
The change begins when we all see:
Her fight for more sets us all free.

Personal note: I wrote this poem for every woman who has ever felt the weight of being the “only” in the room, for those who show up daily carrying more than what’s on their to-do list. I see you. I’ve been you. And I believe that sharing our truth, through words, art, and action, is how we begin to change the systems around us. Thank you for reading and for continuing to climb.

Now tell me: Have you ever felt this weight?
Feel free to share your story in the comments or pass this along to someone who needs to hear it.
